Hello my friends...I have been growing grape-vines for 6 years...but this year i forgot to trim them back and they are starting to bud...should i go ahead and trim the limbs that have NO buds and ONLY keep the ones that do...or should i trim them all back...i would think the ones that have buds are the NEWEST limbs...is this correct...and the ones that dont are last years limbs?? PLEASE all grape connasieurs let me know!
THANX AGAIN!

I have had grapes for the past 3 years this last winter was so bad they just grew a new stalk. I would trim to where you wanted to in the first place then fertilize to compensate. The plant will get with the game plan sooner than you think :^)

I don't have grapes - but I would go with Migael!
I don't have grapes, but if I remember correctly from high school ag class, if you cut grapes during the growing season, they can bleed excessively and damage the plant. If you do not prune, you may not get much production, but it should survive just fine, I am not sure pruning now would increase production.

sbl is right. I pruned too late one year & I was surprised how much "bleeding" it did. Was like a leaky faucet!!! Thank God the plants survived. I wouldn't touch ones that are budding, but take a chance on pruning some that aren't budding yet.
