I can't see why:
just google it:
Orchid of the Week Library: Paph. malipoense (http://www.orchidweb.com/orchidofweek.aspx?id=106)
and you find the same thing for $50.....
go figure

I think that's nuts... by the time you got it the flower would be all dried up... to me even a Grant can buy me a good tree someone else doesn't have around here. :^)

He's not really selling it either, there's absolutely no description of the plant at all.

I'm amazed that anyone would pay that money for a plant with no provenance.

There are hundreds of plants I'd much rather have for under $50. The flower in the pic didn't even look that pretty...kinda gross-looking, actually.

This type of orchid for me is a difficult customer. I know there is no plant I would pay $9500.00 for even with free shipping!

I would think he did a typo...maybe $95.00 - not $9500.00. But then, he didn't correct it all month. WOW

$9500 seems pretty ridiculous.

The most expensive plant I've considered purchasing is the 'Abiu'. However, it is sensitive to our winters(can you believe that?!). I've only seen it at one local nursery for $95 in a 3 gallon pot.. and $175 in a 7 gallon pot.

It would really suck if you spend that kind of cash and the tree doesn't make it through the winter.

LOL...I wouldn't even pay $95 for that! I might pay $9.50 with free shipping, but that's about it.
