hi all,
i stored my musa in my shed over winter , and it ended up looking very sorry for itself.all the leaves had gone and i was left with a stump about 24" long.I then put in my greenhouse , where it has been for the last 6/8 weeks . i can see new leaves all nicely wrapped together in the center of the stump , but the top part of the stump doesn`t look to good. also it looks like a new bit is starting to grow out of the pot.
any ideas on what to do ????
sorry for being vage but this is my first ever banana plant and i really haven`t got a clue lol
thanks for reading

Do you have well draining soil, what is the temp. and air flow like in the green house and is the bit that is coming out of the pot coming from the top like a small sprout? If so that would be great as another plant would be growing. I don't know what to say about the top of the plant that doesn't look good ~ If you could post a picture, other more knowlegable members could determine the health status better than I.

Good luck!
Deb

hi deb, the temp in the day is around 25/30 degrees cen and yes it is in well drain soil.the bit coming out is like a small sprout( is this what they call a pup ?) any ideas on how to set the pup free so it will mature into a new plant ?

Sounds like you have a pup! :woohoonaner: Just let it alone to grow! I don't cut mine off until they're at least a foot and a half with several leaves but that is just me. I don't know the earliest, safe size to cut it off the mom.

cool....just been reading on here about cutting the pup free. Think i`ll take your advice and leave it for a while till it grows.
fingers crossed :ha:
