I have 3 mini greenhouses with 72 count pots seeded with Darjeeling and DJ Giant seeds. They are seeded in Miracle grow seed mix and covered with heat mats under them. It has been a month now and a few days ago I have had 1 seed sprout and then a couple days later another. The first one perished it turned brown and then black so I assumed it is a goner. There should be more now coming up occasionally but how do I keep them going? The soil is very moist and I am thinking that might be the problem but if I don't keep it that way it dries out very fast due to the heat mats. What are the steps to take after they sprout. If I uncover the whole seed mat and only a few have sprouted won't that affect the ones that haven't? I am new at this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You can transplant the ones that have germinated.

Hi, why not place the sprouted ones in a seperate tray and place in an open plastic bag so they can adapt to the air out side of a closed environment gradually. Leave the others in covered case until they sprout.

I have had 2 sprout so far out of the 220 I planted .Both have perished. The first one I left in the mini greenhouse and it turned black after a few days. The second I put in a plastic bag with small amount of dirt and kept it moist. It lasted about a week or so and then started to turn black. Someone suggeted to try planting it so I put it in a cup with soil and on a heat mat. It too turned black.

Just pot them up and keep them in a semi-shady area for a bit, even on a windowsill would work. They should not be kept very humid because it encourages mold growth and you want the plants to toughen up. Unless its super cold in your house, take them off the heat mat once they sprout, just grow them like a normal house plant.

Hey everyone, I planted 20 abyssinian(EnseteV) 13 days ago. Today the first sprout
popped. I am so thrilled. Hope tomorrow brings a few more. I sterilized the water and
changed it daily for four days. Scarified by rubbing on coarse sandpaper. Don't know if this did the trick but, one is a start.

After they sprout, get them into very good light, warm temps of at least 60, and good air circulation.humidity that's higher but not keeping a bag or cover over them is good. Good soil, promix hp is what I use, well draining. Pot them up into individual pots, water them in when potted, and don't water them again until the surface soil looks dry. Then water them well, and don't water them again until the surface looks dry. Keep cycling them between well watered and dryness and you'll see as they grow, they need water more often. Then you're out of the woods with them.

Hi everyone, I potted the only EV sprout that came up. I carefully moved the peat pot it was in. I didn't probe for fear of damage. I didn't see any roots but, feel there has to be for there to be a green sprout. It is barely a half inch if that. I'm thinking this is too
wierd. Shouldn't there be those spider looking roots? It doesn't seem to be doing anything. It looks like a little bulb sprout just starting out. Is this normal?
Thanks Raggedy
