I thought of everyone here at Bananas.org several weeks ago when I visited Funchal in the Madiera Islands. This was before the flash floods that sadly, killed at least 42 people and destroyed a lot of the beauty I saw while I was there.
I had no idea that bananas were grown there. We went on one of those double decker tour buses around the city. I was going crazy taking shots of bananas, which I'm sure was amusing for the other people on the bus.
I'm not sure what kind of banana plants they are. They didn't seem to be much more than 10 feet tall, but many of them had lots of fruit on 'em.

Plenty of plants here to keep you busy! ;-)

Scenery like this at every turn. Banana plants everywhere!
