the market in San Antonio. I spent the day nursery hopping and stopped at the Central Market to pick up a few things to grill this weekend. I was surprised to see that in addition to the normal commercial bananas and plantains they had Red cooking bananas and these Lady Fingers.

I placed the a bunch under the sign for the photo. The angle of the photo makes them look a little bigger than they are.

I purchased a small bunch and ate one on the way home. it was very good; sweet with a pleasant apple aftertaste.

I was also surprised that I found seven different types of banana plants at the local nurseries I visited.

I found some of those at my local grocery store in Iowa this winter. I believe they are 'ninos' but I'm not entirely sure on that (though nino means baby in Spanish, so it kinda makes sense). They definitely are tasty though!

These are my favorite, but I have noticed they dont last long they turn brown very quickly.
