Hi everybody,

as many people here, I'm not only into bananas, but also into palm trees. I recently researched the web for new varieties and I came across the Voanioala gerardii (Forrest Coconut).
It's a rare species from Madagascar and it's protected, because very few trees remained. I was checking if seeds were available, but at the moment it seems to be impossible. The only shops with seeds or plants available I found in the US and they don't ship internationally.
Does anybody here has experience with groowing that palm or has any source for seeds? They should be from a shop or someone who has legally obtained them, so shipping would not be problem, as long these seeds are protected. I don't want to "help" illegal seed collectors. Just that nobody get's a wrong impression of my request. But also any info on germinating and growing of this palm would be helpful.

Thanks

Are you sure you spelled it correctly? I can't seem to find it anywhere? I don't believe it wouldn't be on the net. ;)

This is all the info I can find:
Voanioala - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voanioala_gerardii)
Says it is estimated that there are less than 10 mature trees remaining, so it might be incredibly difficult (aka impossible) to get this species. Best of luck though.
