Hello,

Recently I checked on my mini banana plant(SDC) and I was shocked to see it in such a bad condition. Here is a picture of it:

I'm not sure what caused it. But I do know that the weather was very cold (around 30 - 60 F ) for the time I was away.I immediately took the plant inside.
What could have cause this? Not enough sunlight?, over watering?
Please let me know what could be done to help it survive and get better?

I would greatly appreciate any response.
Thanks

It looks like cold damage, but you have lots of green still left. I would just wait, keep watering light as long as temps are below 60s.

The cold temperatures or over/under-watering could have caused such things. The soil looks pretty damp now, but you probably just watered it before the pic. Make sure you let the surface and a bit below the surface of the soil get dry before watering each time. Also, it could stand to be in a larger pot (7-10 gallon maybe) at that size...but I'd let it recover from where it's at right now first before repotting. Looks pretty small for over a year of age...the pot is probably at least part of what's holding it back overall.

frost maybe....? It sure does look extremely well watered. Not a good thing when its so cool.

Looks like the the new leaf coming out is dead. I would put it on a heat pad & cut the top off till you see good green or white growth..... I left mine out in the cold way to long & they look worse than that.... saved everyone buy doing this..... I have to say one more time, only cut if the new leaf is dead.... or if you want a smaller plant.....
