Hi banana gurus,
Would you know what banana is this? This mystery musa is growing in my parents' garden. The tip of the tree is almost 2 storeys high, the cross-section of the fruits are angular. When ripe, it's light, dusky yellow in colour, not like the bright yellow sort one sees at supermarkets/markets.
Here's the whole plant. The stone wall is about 5' tall.

in malaysia "pisang nangka" taste sweet and sour ..
also bit smell and taste like "nangka" ---> Leucaena leucocephala (jackfruit)

Malaysia and Indonesia use same language ..however, there were very few dialectal differences and intonation.

Perhaps I should describe the characteristics of the fruit that I've encounted. They have a drier texture similar to those del monte bananas, slightly astringent when not completely ripe. However, when well ripe, it is sweet, but not the in-your-face sweetness of pisang mas. There is a slight flavour of nangka; a colleague actually asked if the banana was grown near a jackfruit tree!
I tried grilling a few of them, they seem to harden up. An aunt had a few uncooked bananas at a go and noticed that her poo had turned white......ok ok, too much information! :rollerbananadone:
