I have a couple plants I'm going to try this year. They were in the ground a couple months last year, but didn't have a chance to grow much. I have them in the sunroom and they haven't started growin again yet....I have high hopes. I bought them from someone here on the ORG so I'm sure some one can give you some answers.

Not growing any, but they are very beautiful! Very unique flowers.
Greg, I have lots of them--will send some for postage. They are pretty and in case you don't know it--when you squeeze them you get a soapy liquid.

Wow, really? Guessing that's where the 'shampoo' part came from. What other info can you tell me about them. How tall do they get, soil preference, lighting preference, etc?

They get about 3 1/2 to 4 ft. Mine froze to the ground with this last freeze, but will come back. Mine are in partial sun, but I know they will do well in full sun. Our soil is sandy and acidic, I don't know how they would do in clay, but they would probably do well in highly organic soil like bananas. What you do not see in the picture of the red cone is the small yellow flowers that come out of the cone as it develops. They spread, I would not call them invasive, but you do need to back them up occasionally.

Yeah, those red cones look pretty dry, but if you pick one and squeeze it just a little, you will get lots of soapy liquid. I have never used it for shampoo, but I have used it to wash my hands.
