Today, in the mail, I received the below straplings from Erik. Not sure if many of you saw his post/offer a short while ago, but Erik is a super nice guy and is VERY generous!!! He is looking to add lots of different subtropicals and tropicals on property on San Juan Island, WA. This includes bananas!!! For anyone looking for a coconut look alike, that lives in an area where frost generally kills a coconut, a mule is a great alternative. I know I will be pushing my luck with these up here in the great white TN area, but hey, I did not think I would be able to keep my butias as long as I have. Anyway, here is what he sent me:

For anyone that missed his post, here is a link to it, and a link to his profile!!! Welcome him if you haven't and help him if you can!!!

Very nice! Who wouldn't love the coconut look? I wonder how hardy they are when established? I recall about the same as butia, but I may be mistaken.

Austin, from what I have read, 14F and in some cases down to 10F.... I will be trying one once they get some size to them... You gotta try one, or two, or three.... LOL
Btw, MY waggies are doing well in the garage and you can get a glimpse of them in one of the pics of the mule palms. Not sure about the spanish moss. Seems to be doing fine, but hard to tell until spring.... Take care, buddy!!!

Those are great looking. He obviously has some very nice palms. BTW, my trachys and needles are still looking OK even though they have no mulch or wrappings on them, and the temps ha gone down to the low teens. Amazing!!

That may be great idea / experiment to see how much they can take & endure. :^)
