I donot know whats going on with are weather. From the low 60's to the upper 70's back and forth. It will not make its mind up. We are now back to spring time again. Than by the weekend back to the 60's again.
I think we're getting some of that snaffue weather that makes you scratch your head.. like where in the hell did the good stuff go? lol We're going to have a squeeker on temps tonight... but its all good in the long run; I checked all the other corms that haven't shot up (3) and they are working underground (puppin' / rootin').... yeah buddy :^)

Same here
Problem is you are too far south. If you lived up toward Canada, like Chicago you would have plenty of warm weather.
Sorry I am just sour with El nino!! Upper 50s Sunday. Arctic storms keep slamming the west coast

Our weather guy was talking about the upcoming hurricane season, and they are predicting it will be a very heavy one with the most developing in the Pacific and the Gulf. Let's hope they are wrong on this. At least we can take measures to deal with the heat and cold.

OK it's that time of year again for me. It's a beautiful 70 degree day and I've been outside preparing for some Spring plantings. We are supposed to have weather like this for the next three or four days then it is supposed to rain for 4 days. We shall see!!!!

I cant wait until spring!!! Another VERY cold 10 days. Most days will be 10F BELOW AVERAGE! Pretty much the same story as the past 2 months! We already had the snowiest month ever recorded for the area, the most snow from a snow storm ever recorded in the area (that was the december snow storm right after christmas) and February is usually the snowiest month!
I just cant wait until april. Last april (I think it was early april too) we had a week in the high 80s and 90s and the last frost last year was in late march (but the frost right before that was back 3 weeks before that). I hope we have a spring like that and not a spring of below average temperatures!
The plants are looking forward to spring just as much!

Sounds like it's a pretty wide-spread ailment. Like HBL, I've had it since November too, when the weather finally changed over to winter rains. Lately, it seems we've been in some sort of suspended animation, with some bulbs and other spring plants showing growth, but at such a slow rate its like looking at a "still life" picture. But, did you notice how exciting each and every new sign of life becomes? Okay, I tried. :08:

I've got the fever really bad today, and bought seeds & plants to satisfy the itch that comes every year around this time. I just hope I don't get out of control and order more seeds than I know what to do with. It can be downright insane some years. :ha:
Thanks for allowing all us Spring addicts a place to come and discuss the urges to order and sow over 100 different varieties all in one week!
You think I'm joking, don't you?
I need to decide what I really want to grow most this season and then just stick to that...
Yeah, right...and who am I kidding. :ha:

ohhh it's killing me day to day , I torture myself by looking at Los Angeles's weather and Ft lauderdale then have to look at my own. in tears by the end. Sherry I know I was in over my head with stuff. this year I have to organize everything better.
last year I had the bananas, the flowers, house plant plants lol (a lot) veggie garden, and all the annuals. oh god I could go on forever.
This year I'm sticking to bananas, maybe 2 vegetables. palms from seed iv'e grown, I have a ton of cannas this year. last all my fruit plants/trees. I am gonna try and stick to that. we'll see in may whats going on.
And that Kru, picking up the growing speed. I am so excited what it might do for me this year ! (fingers crossed)

Too many people on this site bragging and gloating about one of the three deadly topics of conversation? I'm referring to religion, politics and the weather....all of which can lead to controversy, and I think sometimes, to a weird backlash repercussion of sorts from the powers that be. More than a few times I've seemingly paid the price for daring to brag about my weather v.s. less fortunate friends in harsher climates. I don't "go there any more". It's also why we all subscribe to this site as well I think. Just the same, the roller-coaster of bad and off again, on again weather of this year is getting tedious, and I hope the weather forecasters are wrong on this next Arctic air outflow as well. Okay everyone, think nice, warm thoughts...no snow, no snow, no snow!:bananarow:

Bought a huge quantity of soil in preparation for the "big planting" to come.... Now I don't know where to store it since there are at least two weeks left before I can start the excavation 's works.....
Now I got everithing...... more plants than Condominium's garden capacity (yes I told my neighbours if I could take care of the garden... NAIVE THAT THEY ARE!!!! MUAHAAHAHAH) enough soil to reclaim a swamp and enough fertilizer for a commercial bananas' plantation.....
I just need SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here on the Island, we're being teased by the weather, being just a degree or two shy from where spring can get a start. Lots of buds expanding and bulbs valiantly inching toward the sun, but nothing brave enough to venture forth yet. In addition, all the plants wintered over in my workshop are putting out new growth in response to the longer days, and will soon overgrow their limited quarters. In anticipation, I've started to clear beds and spent the last couple days sanding, painting and sharpening all my garden tools. Decided on a nice bright yellow...so I won't lose so many in the underbrush and plantings this summer.:ha:

Spring fever comes in bunches up here in Buffalo, NY. Below freezing one day and 50 the next. I bidded on some Musa veluntina seeds on eBay along with some seeds of a heliconia. I planted some Bomarea seeds and keeping fingers crossed that they germinate in 8 weeks. If not, into the fridge they go for 6 weeks and then out again for 8 weeks to see if that wakes them up. Haven't grown banana's from seed before or heliconia, but what the heck. Wating for spring and looking for work are damn hard right now.

Yep.. Highs have been in the 50s and 60s. Even the hills north of Los Angeles got closed due to snow. Our records for this time of year are in the 90s, with 70s more typical. oh well! looks like we got 2-3 more weeks of it...

Possibly a wintery mix on wednesday. I doubt any snow will stick to paved surfaces, but I really dont want to see snow this late in the year! I'm thinking of covering my palms. Just for comparison, last year I had many plants outside for the summer already!
Looks like at least another 10 days of below average temperatures and cold weather. Today (Tuesday) is the only day that will be average in the next 10 (55F and sunny). About 3 days in a row will have nights below 32F which will probably damage some of the blooming plants. Looks like spring is farther than we thought!

These are all my in-ground (unprotected) bananas. For some reason though none of my potted bananas are showing anything at all :( .
