Just thought I'd share my frustration in some dealings I've had with my brother-in-law's mortgage bank...
They basically paid the taxes from his escrow account on 3 properties that have nothing do to do wit the loan- for a total of over $1000-
We sent proof that those properties had nothing to do with the loan over a month ago, they've since upped the payment to cover the "escrow shortage"

Had the nerve to say that they'd credit back the funds once the county refunded the money back to them.
Has anyone heard anything more absurd?

Is it just me or has good customer service gone the way of the dodo?
It's no wonder our banking sector is in such trouble.

Hello I can understand such frustration on behalf of idiots (BIL (brother in law) Mortgage Co)! I would take a look @ the title document and all paperwork with the loan and make sure the property lived in or rented out is the only one listed then I'd go to the BBB (I bet they are still looking to get business (make loans) and should get the lead out of their assets :^)and file a complaint. I'd also goto the County tax assessor and do what they have to get those funds back so it doesn't get sent to the real property owners..(you know what I mean) Anyway I hope this may help and Good Luck :^)

We've sent complaints to everyone who we can... We'll see what happens. Just absurd that they expect us to pay the consequences of their mistake until it's corrected, if it's corrected.
All the paperwork is in order my Mother-in-law lives there, but has a life estate on the title.
I've noticed that the less competition an organization has, the worse the service they provide. For example, we're probably stuck with this company another 20+ years unless we want to find the thousands of dollars it would take refinance.
The only org with worse service for us was U.S. Immigration- they gave us tons of wrong information and made mistakes that cost us years.

I guess the less options you have about using a particular business or organization, the worse they're going to treat you.

I wouldn't change Mortgage Co's till your $$ gets back or they'll pocket it.. The only thing you need to change Mortgage Co's is a house inspection and appraisal.. And whoever your looking @ for the remortgage will tell you what they require. The only way you pay $$ Big Bucks for refinancing is if you buy points that lowers your interest rate for the term of the loan.. You definately don't want an adjustable Mortgage.. You want a "fixed loan".. hopefully property values (falling) haven't hurt you in your area. :^)

Even with out points you're talking about 2-3 thousand. Most charge a 1% loan origination- plus a few other closing costs. In the complaints with BBB and the Office of Thrift Supervision (which regulates Flagstar Bank) the resolution I've requested is that Flagstar Return the funds and pay the costs of refinancing with another bank.

Best of luck! Wells Fargo has messed up my tax's then refused to refund them. And when I finally got my refund they only gave me 10% of what was returned to them. I faxed them tons of documents as proof of what the state refunded them as it was suppose to be MY refund and they still refused and even told me "Well anyone can produce any document and make it read as they wish" I got so mad I just gave up on the lost funds.

If they can't handle the simple stuff, it's no wonder the banking sector is in such a mess.
It also shows that they don't really care about the general consumer.

Wow, that's terrible! My bank down here actually assigned me a personal banker who has gone out of her way to ensure that neither the bank nor the government messes up when it comes to my loans and taxes. She saved me about $1000 last year. It really says something when an Ecuadorean/Panamanian bank is doing better for their customers than a US one...

It makes me wonder even more about those Million $$$ bonuses...

We've been pretty content with Bancolombia when we're down that way too.
Though we figured the best way to get funds when we're there is just using our US bank card in any ATM.

I think that its pretty stupid.. ok I said it that the financials can't manage their finances in a productive way.. I guess they are only looking out for how they can increase their bonus structure..
