Just planted several flowering cherry trees. They're called Prunus serrulata Mt. Fuji (white flowers) and Kwanzan (pink flowers). They're about 4-5 feet tall, came in biodegradable containers, bare branches with buds, no leaves. I don't need flowers right away, but would love to see leaves by spring.

Thanks,

you should have flowers in the spring than the leaves will come.

Excellent! Can't wait. This will make all that hard labor yesterday worth it. Even in the winter time, I HAVE/NEED to do some gardening work, it's become a passion/obsession for me lately. :nanadrink:

Yeah, got 'em at Lowe's. Are they any good? Not that it matters, since I've already planted them, but I'd like to know what you think of 'em.

Thanks,

I saw that Lowe's is getting all there fruiting plants in biodegradable pots,so I figured that is where you got them. I would watch the pot sometimes they don't degrade as fast as they should and you will get a root bound plant. I think it's best to at least cut the bottom out of the containers.

Here's a pic of my Kwnzan chery this past spring. They do get big. This one is 20+ years old.

Funny the tag describes the size as 3' x 3', most photos I see the tree gets much larger than that. I also got a fruiting cherry that has 5 different varieties grafted on.

Also be aware that they are shallow rooters, so you can expect the roots to eventually appear in your lawn. There's very little grass and lots of roots under our tree in the photo.

Thanks for the info. I have no grass where they're planted, only barks for mulching.
