I went to Tony's place on Jan 4 2010 and I was amazed with the kinds of plants he is growing. He has 11 blossoms of different varieties and lots more bananas growing. He has plenty more on pots. He is also growing other plants such as different varieties of figs, peaches guavas, and more that I could not think of the names. I don't know how he can manage to plant them all. He said that he can't help it to keep adding more plants. He is what I call a true bananaholic. I regret that I did not bring my camera with me. I promised to come back to give him some grafting tape but I did not have time anymore.

One of the reasons why I was not able to go back was my nephew invited me to squid fishing in San Diego bay. I did not expect the squid would be this large. We caught 24. The 3 of us my son, my nephew and me.

There is just so many things to do in San Diego.

Can't think of a better reason. Benny did you catch them in the bay or is that where the boat was docked ?

Tony: No we rode a boat for an hour. We passed an island that my nephew said that belongs to Mexico. We fished in a 300 feet of water and at night. The boat left at 5 pm and we started fishing by 7pm. Everybody was exhausted by 10 pm and everybody had their fill. We had 5 sacks full and that's enough.
Too bad I got an email that a picture of a squid is not allowed here so the mod deleted my pictures.

I would like to see that pic. I was just at the grocery & the first thing you see when you walk in the door is seafood section..clams, whole fish, fillet'd fish. If calamari is offensive, I wonder what these ppl do when they go by the seafood section. Oh well.

I have no idea why a squid picture was deleted here. I believe it was relevant the reason why I was not able to see Tony again and his banana plants. To think that one or two complainants can affect a whole lot of people is beyond me.
I'll email you the pics Patty.

Andy Rooney and Prayer
<ATT00025.jpg>
Andy Rooney says:
I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin , but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his Theory of Evolution.
Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game..
But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue..
Yes, and this is the United States of America , a country founded on Christian principles.. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect -- somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem , I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer...
<ATT00028.jpg>
If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.
If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.
<ATT00031.jpg>
And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit.
But what about the atheists? Is another argument.
What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds.. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs.. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!
Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.
Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.
God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well, just sue me.
The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority
Rules! It's time we tell them, You don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!
God bless us one and all .... Especially those who denounce Him , God bless America , despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all. God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God.
<(null)>
Let's make 2010 the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions . And our military forces come home from all the wars.
Keep looking up.

Yes Benny, I read that before, but I just read it again. It makes a ton of sense...glad you posted it!
If someone doesn't like God, prayer, Allah, Buddha, deer meat, fishing, hunting, or CALAMARI, then DON'T LOOK AT IT & just leave it alone!! Pay more attention to serial killers & child molesters etc! You are also right that deleting your pic hurt more people than it did to protect others.
I just don't understand how pics of calamari could be censored.:( Almost as bad as Momo's small pic of a animated hot dog getting deleted. Who did that upset? There must be a majority of vegetarians here(?)

I don't have a right to come onto your property and do as I please. I don't have a right to come into your house and say what I please. If you have a private internet home page and I post something you feel is offensive you have the right to take it down. This is a privately owned website with the owner trying very hard to keep it a pleasant place and I would think that adults would be mature enough to stop this nonsense and follow the rules. I respect the people that say, 'oh sorry I goofed up' when something they posted was taken off and we all move on.
What is being risked here? Ruining all that Jarred has put so much of his life and love into because because afew people that won't stop the jabs at every opportunity.
Sorry about the derailing but it was getting derailed anyway with the sarcastic remarks.

Patty:
I was a only able to show Tony Whip and Tongue graft and Cleft Graft due to time involved. But I was full of envy when I saw his bananas and other plants growing so nicely even during the Winter time. Right now all of my bananas are sorry looking. Most of them have brown leaves.
Tony:
I am glad that my demo was a success even though I forgot most of my grafting tools. I forgot my grafting knife , grafting tape rubber band, etc....
