Welcome to this house of friendship and spirits. What will you have? I'll have either a John Jameson 12 Year Old Irish Whisky or a Vodka Gimlet on the Rocks. Maybe instead I'll go for a cool (not cold) Black and Tan. And you?

lorax
12-30-2009, 04:21 PM
I'll take 25-year old Oban Single-Malt or perhaps 20-year old Lagavulin Single-Malt. If you insist on mixing me a drink, I'd like a Tanqueray Martini with a twist of lemon, stirred and not shaken - I prefer them clear, thank you. If you insist on mixing me a girly drink, make it an Electric Tiger. If you have it on tap, I'll take a chocolate stout. If not, a Guinness.

If you put me behind the bar, I'm liable to flip your bottles around.

lorax you Showoff!!!

I'll take an Oban 1992 Distillers Edition. For a mixed, Bombay sapphire martini dirty! ( extra olives please). If I'm showing off behind the bar it would either be a layered concoction or something flaming. If it's beer , just make sure it's cold..unless I'm in Ireland....then it's Guiness all the way.

At the moment though Glenlivet 21 year old!:ha:........ Cheers all:woohoonaner:

I'll have a rainbow shot. (I got that originally in Cancun, actually I had like 5 of them and got sick afterwards....but that's another story!) It was a really pretty layered drink with like 3 or four different colors in it and they went down really well.
Or a pina colada...or if it's something not mixed, has anyone else tried this beer called "Wild Blue"? It's a blueberry lager and they have quite a kick (8%) but don't taste like it at all. My daughter likes it, the 21 yr old. Well, also the 13 year old, but she only got a sip before she got caught!

Migael, Vintage Chocolate Stout is a stout ale made with no less than 50% black caramel malt, lightly hopped, and with a hefty percentage of raw cocoa nibs in the primary ferment. This is allowed to age at least 6 months after bottling. Mine has an alcohol content of about 5% although if I allow it an extra month in the secondary fermentor, I can get it up to about 8.5% (which is technically a barleywine). Chocolate stouts are smoother of flavour than regular commercial ones (ie Guinness), can stand to be chilled a touch more, and have more character to their bitterness (thanks to the combo of cacao and hops). The only stout I enjoy more is Oatmeal Stout, but this is a pain in the tuckus to brew since it involves infusion brewing during the initial mashing stage, whereas Chocolate Stout is a single standard mash. I also do some unique things with the hops, but those are my own secrets and I shan't be telling anybody those.

I wouldn't drink Maker's Mark. If you do, no more than two ice cubes, and nothing else.

I'm not that fond of the hard stuff--though I have been know to down a few shots of Two Finger Gold at a friends Christmas party.

I like wine and beer and have a pretty wide range of taste, but I like full bodied red wines and nutty brown beers best. I used to make beer, but now focus mostly on making wines--mostly fruit wines. I just made my first kit wine-- a Choclate Raspberry Port--awesome, but most of what I have made is blueberry wine and hard lemonade.

Lorax, I had a friend that makes some great beer and he made a Chocolate Brown Stout that was probably the best beer I have ever tasted!

How about a flaming dr pepper to warm you up?

If I remember right, the recipe is:

1 bud light in a 16 oz glass
3/4 of a shot of almaretto
1/4 of a shot of Bacardi 151

Take a shot glass and fill it 3 quarters of the way with almaretto. Fill the rest with the 151. Ignite the shot and let it burn for a few seconds.

Then you can turn it off by topping it with something to smother the flame or you can just drop it into the beer while still lit. I recommend turning it off first for the sake of safety.. especially if your already a few drinks in. :P

Anyways, once you drop the shot into the beer(shot glass and all), chug your beer as quickly as possible. It really does taste like Dr. Pepper!

Cheers!

When does Summer hit there?

Soon I hope! It depends on what you call summer--for me it is the 90s. Normally we can start getting into the 90s in May.

As for the hard lemonade, it will take several weeks of fermenting and then a couple months to clear before bottling, but once you put everything together, it is mostly just watch and wait.

One of Mickey Rourke's best performances in a darkly funny film, 15 January 2006
http://www.imdb.com/images/showtimes/90.gif
Author: MovieAddict2009 (http://www.imdb.com/user/ur1173088/comments) <small> from UK </small>
"Barfly" was a fairly successful film when it was released and garnered generally favorable reviews. Roger Ebert gave it four out of four, and along with "Angel Heart," it helped solidify 1987 as the Year of Mickey Rourke.

However, almost twenty years later it isn't talked so much about anymore, and I feel it deserves to be. Rourke gives one of his finest performances as Henry, a loner who walks hunched over like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Henry works at a bar as a runner - delivering orders and such. But he's always getting into drunken brawls with the bartender, usually losing.

One day Henry's life takes a turn when he meets a downtrodden woman (Faye Dunaway) and they embark on a relationship.

"Barfly" is a great film. Rourke was vocal later on in his career about his dislike of director Barbet Schroeder, but Schroeder's direction is part of what makes this film so good.

However, the absolute best aspect of the movie is Rourke's performance. Embodying the late writer Charles Bukowski (whose work this was based upon, and who had a brief cameo in the film), Rourke is unrecognizable - like Billy Bob Thornton in "Sling Blade," his entire demeanor and physicality seems to change.

I highly recommend "Barfly" - it's funny, dark, witty, touching and downright enjoyable. One of the best films of the '80s

I think most of his challenges (Adam from man vs. food) have been to tackle eating a large plate of food however I do not believe challenging him to eat something not edible/insanely hot is fair. Why not just spray the contestant's food with mace or battery acid? The talk show challenge was even more ridiculous and reminded me of a how much water can you drink challenge where a person died. You can go into shock from eating too much capsicum because the pores in your intestinal wall open up and let in more toxins than the body can process....stupidity.

It has been done...I think I could do it...I just need to make the drive down.

My only concern is that when they made the wings for the show they did not measure (at least not precisely) the amount of extract that went in to the sauce; which is very very important at this heat level!! So to your point they may have "cheated" and given him more that the "normal dose of extract".

Adam has conquered some extremely hott food challenges, as a fan of the show I am impressed with his ability to eat some HEAT!

Following is the first of three videos of a guy who was able to eat the wings:

Hey Howard, can you make up something tropical for me...maybe parrot rum & pineapple/coconut something? It's the one I shoulda had watching the Packer/Red Skins game last Sunday. I recalled you & your son are diehard Red Skin fans so I thought of you:) Too bad the Packers stopped playing after 2nd quarter!!!
Something tropical for this last stretch of decent weather ...& then all the plants get hauled inside.

Patty- For a change the Skins continued playing in the second half at the same level; usually they die back and we either lose or squeak by for a win. Can't believe we're in a tie for 1st.
Now, here's a delicious Sex On The Beach for you.

<table align="center" width="75%"><tbody><tr><td>Sex on the Beach Ingredients 1-1/2 ounces of Peach Schnapps
1-1/2 ounces of Vodka
2 ounces of Cranberry Juice
2 ounces of Orange Juice
2 ounces of Pineapple Juice

Sex on the Beach Instructions
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a highball glass filled with ice. </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

Not to derail one of my favorite threads.... ( ahem!) but how's Aaron Rodgers' aching head and How's Donovan Mc Nabbs ankle doing these days?
And who's now the number one defense in the NFL? Need a hint...... I'll be concocting something Blue this weekend and will rub it in... er ah... post it here Sunday:woohoonaner:

Rodgers will prolly not play this Sunday because of his concussion. We have a lot of guys out on injured list... too many! Beginning of season, they said Packers were heading to Super Bowl .. but not any more.
Anyone cry with Farve when Vikings lost Monday? :)

Skins-Colts should be a hard fought game. All our wins are in the last few minutes. McNabb has been practicing; I'm more upset over the loss of Portis for 4-6 weeks. Giants? Hah.

Howard, I didnt know Portis was out.... but 4-6 weeks still doesn't do me any good!!! Hopefully he wont be available til January 3rd!!!
