Want Them All

I included an AeAe and some monster-sized trees from the Foster Botanical Garden, the rest are interesting as well. The weather is wonderful, I want to move here already. High 70s to low 80s, water temp is very comfortable. Lush vegetation everywhere, I don't think they need to be watered.

What month did you go there? I imagine during the summer. There are months that rains all the time there too! That's why I guess you don't need to water.

I'm still here in Hawaii. Will be returning to the mainland in a couple days.

I haven't visited O'ahu since before 2000, but I recognize the beach pictures are Lanikai in Kailua. Best swimming beach in all of O'ahu, in my opinion.

Here are a couple from when I visited there.

This is my grandson, in one of the many hidden photo ops a few steps through a narrow right-of-way that opens up to this panoramic view. Actually, this spot was the cover of the Driving and Discovering O'ahu--a gem of a book--the year previous to my visit.

Here's Lanikai Beach on the cover of the same book, the year I visited last.

I also remember visiting the Foster Botanical Garden--right in the heart of downtown O'ahu.

The waves must be awesome at Waimea on the North Shore this time of year. That should be a sight!

mjdsinsacto: I didn't make it to Waimea this time. The photos of your grandson are great, nice location. I know there are some caves here and there along the coast. Pretty much everywhere you turn it's a photo op. Good thing I got 8 GB on my memory card.

Great pictures, WTA. More of the beaches, bananas, and of course other tropical landscape shots, please! I hope you're having a good time.

Enjoy! I hope these can raise the temp for you just looking at them. Even in the cloudy photos, the ambient temp was in the mid 70s, very comfortable. The beach photos were taken at Ke'e Beach, we went snorkeling, saw some beautiful fishes. Bananas were taken at the Limahuli Botanical Garden. It was misting some during our visit, as you can see in the shiny, moist vegetation.

I have the red Ti plant growing in my yard, I'll be looking for the green one, as shown in this photo, to complement it. Add some "elephant ears", and I'll be on my way to copying the island look! :woohoonaner:

Mangoes are considered "weeds" on the islands, they propagate freely and easily with no human help. I wish I could have a "weed" this big. They, along with papayas and bananas are all over the place, like "weeds"! BTW, I saw some Mysore, Raja Puri, Dwarf Namwah, in 1 gallon pots for $12 at the Kauai Walmart tonight. Check out the variegated Elephant Ears, pretty cool. They are closely related to Taro, their leaves look identical to my untrained eyes.
