well bob its vary simple during the time of the Nicaean Counsel there cam a big dispute over several concepts prescribed by the first Cristen Roman empire Constantine he convened this counsel in order to gain control over the powerful and rich early Cristen Church which up until that point was a vary loosely associated group with no structure the Romans on the other had if nothing els knew how to be supremely organized Rome was defiantly losing control of its people in vary much the same way that we are becoming ungovernable here in the USA the similarities are striking but thats a topic for another day any way Constantine sout to organize the early Church in such a way as to appoint him self threw the unanimous consent of the most highly thought of church leaders of the day as the Churches Emperor or as we know it today the Pope
this resulted in a split in the church leading to the two meager catholic sects the Roma Church and the Eastern Orthodox or as it was known then the Church of Constantinople the Roman church celebrates Christmas on Dec 25 this being a point of commonality with the Winter festival of the Pagan arrear the Orthodox Church thought this heresy and refused to share the birth of Christ with the pagans they set there date of Jan 6 this being 12the day after the Roman Church so the fist day of Christmas is Dec25 and the 12 day is Jan 6 celebrated by the Eastern Orthodox church there is a grate deal of more detail to it then i have expressed here in but i don't want every ones eyes to glaze over with religiosity so i wont explain the finer points of the dispute as it is more complicated then just the dates of Christmas but this was one of several meager sticking points between the early Church's leader ship and Constantine the emperor of Rome Hom thou he expressed him self to be a Christan do to a religious experience were he saw the Christan cross in a vision was probably more like most roman emperors more interested in maintaining power of a dying State and he did in supreme fashion reinvigorate Rome to be come the meager ruling power over Europe for another 15 Hundred Years threw a religious and juridical law that exercised its control all the way up to the monarchs of Europa and Abroad

Hey, just got back to TX last night. My wife and I traveled to KY to be with our family. It was chilly and in the 30's for highs the whole time. It was nice to see our family but I was happy to get back to relatively warmer weather. It's 51 here as I type this. Anyhow, I hope you all had a nice Christmas or whichever holiday you celebrate. Tomorrow is our 14th anniversay, so here's a big LOVE YOU to my beautiful wife!

Happy New Year to you all!
