Here at 1AM, it has changed from rain to snow. Hell is freezing over I think.

Last snow, 1976. Nothing I can do now, but watch... Come on cold, bring it on! Is this all you got? Worst case, I can just replant next year and I should be good for another 40 years

I knew it was coming since the Sun is at the quiet part of the 11 year cycle. And once I saw snow hit Houston, I knew this year is going to be a pain, and it has been. Or maybe the weather is pissed that Al Gore is trying to pass global warming taxes in Copenhagen and it's telling us the whole thing is a fraud.

Well, I will have some BEAUTIFUL pics in the morning of snow all over tender palms and bananas :)

Our July was the coldest on record and the entire summer was among the coolest. We last saw 90 degrees in June - we normally have 8-10 days of them in July and August. A couple of years ago, we had nine days of triple-digit heat, including three in September.

It's 60 in my greenhouse, which is fine since the skies are completely overcast.

No more than an inch, but heavy, driving rain, feels like mid to low 30s F.

Strong storm his Southern California today. 40mph gust snapped off my 18ft AeAe at the base. Luck had it that it missed falling on the pups. Hope they survive the winter. We have had 1.30" of rain so far today.

Late this afternoon Mount Diablo still had quite a bit of snow above around 1,000 feet. The look in my son's eyes told the story: he sure wishes he could play in the snow instead of do homework!

Just raining at my house in Las Vegas....Last winter we did get a lot of snow for Vegas as Pauly mentioned earlier. It unfortunately has frosted the past couple of nights.... I'm happy for rain since I can't remember the last time it did, but am ready for spring:D

We are getting COLD tonight. Freak weather. I'm not prepared for this, but I am going to dig what I can up here at 8PM in the dark. Not worth losing my young bananas

I got eight inches snow at 1,500 ft. We get snow close to every year here but usually not that amount and time it lasted. Most of it lasted until the rain came on that Thursday. I find it hard to believe the last time it snowed in Rocklin was 1976. The weather there can't be much different (if not cooler) than Sacramento and it snowed in Sacramento in 2002 or so.

Before the chilly 2002 event, the last reported trace of snow in Sacramento was registered on Febrary 27, 1996, according to the National Climatic Data Center. The last time there was an official accumulation of snow came on February 5, 1976, when two inches of snow fell over the capital city.

Roseville wasn't lucky enough to get snow in 2002 since I was around. What about 1996? perhaps... But for sure 1976.

Aaah mentions of Bakersfield. the town will stay with me forever, staying in 'the shining' hotel, with a deep pile brown carpet overlooking the bail bonds shops and the AMTRAC line. got out of there at about 5AM and headed for Yosemite.

If it's any consolation it's bloody freezing here too with 10" snow due tonight, the news was full of northern hemisphere cold stories from China and Korea. roll on springtime and the years first holiday which will probably be to Gran Canaria where they grow 'Naners, but don't tell my wife thats one of the reasons we're headed there :-)

It broke my heart when my AeAe snapped off, but as I stated earlier it some how missed all of the pups. The pups (largest a little over a foot tall) all seem to be alive and green even though they don't have any leaves growing on them yet. Have only had 1 or 2 days of very light patchy frost with warm days so the weather has been in my favor.
