All bananas tucked away for the winter. 26 is too many. But some are the same kind. I gave about 10 away this summer. My water bananas are in the basement for the winter also. One I bought in 2007 has been in water all summer and winter since 2007. The other I made a water banana by putting it in water and slowly raising the water level all summer. It is also in my basement in water. I will see how it does this winter in water. My Ae Ae's are in my house in a west window for the winter. I mist them daily and keep them on the dry side so they do not rot. I will see how they all survive this winter.

Very cool that is a lot of nannners to be moving. I wonder how that water logged plant will do. I moved my plants inside mid October.
If you have any pups to find homes for come spring time let me know I'm in west St. Louis

Best of luck! I know MO isn't exactly 'banana friendly' at all times of the year. I'm from Iowa originally and that DEFINITELY is not a tropical place LOL :ha: I give mad props to all the zone 6/5/4 (and beyond) people who manage to bring the tropics to not so warm places!
PS...anyone ready for spring/summer again? I know I sure am!

I lived in the St. Louis area from 1998-2003 and it is definitely not banana-friendly, considering there are about 6 months out of the year that are too cool for bananas. I used to overwinter mine in the basement or in the living room.

I think she was referring to a couple of members who are trying to acclimitize their bananas to growing in water all the time.
