Ok, so does anybody have any idea what the difference between Dwarf Namwah and Klue Namwah is. Agristarts is selling something new called Klue Namwah and I am aware that there naming isn't exactly spot on. I am at least led to believe that the real name of what we call a dwarf namwah is Actually "Kluey Namwah Khom", so this new Klue Namwah has me a little thrown for a loop.

Klue is likely a mispelling of kluai (also sometimes seen as gluay or kluay, it just means "banana" in Thai and the real pronunciation is somewhere between a G and a K). Namwah is a fairly general name a lot of Pisang Awak subgroup bananas, so it cannot be reffered to any particular cultivar. So basically, if I were to guess, I would say that Klue Namwah is just some type of Namwah, who knows what the differences are between it and any others offered. What banana scientists do (which is pretty much never done on the hobby side, though hobbyists would love it), is they grow out a plant for 2 cycles and have a standardized list of descriptors which they describe the plant with. They can then refer to the descriptors for that accession to compare them to other accessions.

So maybe we are talking about the difference between a Williams and a Valery, slightly different plant but basically the same.

'Williams' and 'Valery' are both well characterized varieties and are referable to a database of some kind. This is more like the difference between 'Chinese Banana' and 'Cavendish', they may be the same, they may be different, it doesnt matter because the name alone tells very little unless its easily referable to something.

And on another note, Agri-Starts really has very little clue about what they are selling it seems. They get plants in under a certain name, propagate it, and sell it back under the name they got it without ever necessarily knowing what the plant really is.
