View Full Version : Non Flowering Pisand Seribu aka Thousand Finger Banana
I've huge plants of these but they simply are refusing to flower. Any ideas on how to force flower these things. i've given them flowering granular fertiliser but to no avail :(

They will flower in their own time. Try to be patient. They won't just keep putting out leaves indefinitely and each nanner usually has an average number of leaves it will put out before flowering - no flower will happen until those leaves have been produced. Enjoy the leaves and eagerly await the flowers - so long as it's putting out leaves, each leaf is one leaf closer to your flower.

Pine apples can be forced by putting a plastic bag over them and having some ripe apples in the bottom of the pot. It produces a gas or something that makes them flower.
Dunno if it works with bananas, and getting a plastic bag that big...:2141:

Mine (in ground) flower at 12' of trunk. If yours are still in a pot, that can be stressing it and that may delay or prevent flowering.
thanks for the advice folks. i'll just watch every new leaf that comes out (hopefully i get those smaller flower-is-coming leaves) and slowly count down :):2118:
