That is so awesome. You'll have to let us know what the texture and flavor of the fruit is when they ripen. Congrats!

I have tried them fried before used as "tostones" and "maduros" and in my opinion they are exellent! .......have not tried them as a dessert banana.

Congrats! Great growing, Greenie!

:woohoonaner:

I've had dried Ae Ae (long slices) before and they were very good.

How tall is the pseudostem on your plant? Mine is about 12' tall and didn't flower. I'm thinking of chopping it down and potting it back up and bringing it into my greenhouse. If it weren't for the small pups on it I would definitely just leave it outside since I have a smaller one already in my greenhouse.

Harvey,
The pseudostem is at 10ft only so I think yours is fairly close:bananas_b

Thanks, but it's not looking as close after the strong north winds we had yesterday....the blasted thing bent over a couple of feet from the top!!! :( I think I'll probably chop it down low and pot it up and move it back into my greenhouse until next spring and hope for warmer weather next spring.

Looks like a good test to see if the pup will help provide food to the bunch when the mother flowers. Thanks for sharing!

Looks like they have filled out quite a bit in the past few months. Looks like the plant is holding in there...let's hope for the best!

So do they turn yellow when they're ripe or how can you tell?
