There is programming for every stupid thing you could think of.
Why is there no station dedicated to gardening?

There used to be lots of gardening shows on HGTV, then we had the housing run up and with it DIY home repair, flip this house and house hunter themed shows took over. Start a campaign to get more gardening programming, I'll sign it!

Not enough advertisers think it is a good idea.

So maybe one day a week would be good to start! I wish there were more channels devoted to this as well and if they started with one day a week say on HGTV maybe they would see growing interest in their channel and have to expand! If they made it a "reality" show just think of the possibilities:woohoonaner:

I see more gardens this year driving around neighborhoods than I ever have, I would think the demand is there Television land is just behind on the edible landscape movement going on in the country in my opinion...

There's a high probability that the content of such a channel would be very disappointing to educated gardeners. Imagine for example:
Coming next: Edible gardening with your host Paris Hilton, brought to you by Ty Ty Nursery ...

That's silly Richard... lol
There are plenty of good DIY programs on that do not have Paris Hilton hosting...

From the glimpses I've seen of DIY programs, they are paid promotionals from the sponsors. But then again, here's how my television cabinet looks the majority of the time. We only open it to watch a rented movie or keep track of a regional wildfire emergency.

I love P. Allen Smith its to bad the HGTV and even are local PBS station don't show his hole show we only get the 30 mint version
in a nut shell the reason i think theirs no dedicated Gardening net work is well lets face it there arn't allot of us out there. and to the non gardening telly net work exec whats there to talk about you dig a hole and put the plaint in it water a bit give it some food and thats the way they look at it they figure the design portion is covered by the DIY channels but really it isn't we know that other then P Allen Smith who really goes in to any in depth detail on how to landscape sure they show you lots of pretty pictures but no one really talks about the principals of line space negative space texture color and culture so on and so forth this would require that you have viewers that are interested in the deeper more complicated aspects of gardening and lets face it HGTV and DIY don't want to get that deep in to it the show only the most basic info even there home DIY shows are like kindergarten to me
sorry to say but your best bet is to read books on the subject take some design courses at your local com-university and do like us share your experiences with each other its a time honered way of learning and a heck of a lot of fun if you ask me how els would i have ever met such nice folks as you all and when was the last time the HGTV sent you a plant for the heck of it
PS this is an after thought but if you realy want to learn from TV about how to landscap try waching a show on painting landscaps like Gary Spits its in the procese of learnign how to organise the space on a canvis can teach you alot on how to navagat the desine procese of gardning
