Hi guys - just joined the group. I am horticulturalist from the UK, currently living in beautiful Palm Springs, CA for the winter. I have dabbled in growing exotic plants in the UK for many years but as you can imagine with our miserable climate it's quite a gamble. I'm currently writing a book entitled 'Exotic Gardening' which is aimed for the UK and temperate climates.

I used to grow a huge collection of cannas and have also dabbled with various bananas. I think one of my all-time favourite plants is still Ensete ventricosa 'Maurellii'. In fact it was doing my research on this plant and looking up the various synonyms under which it is now sold that I came across this group.

I shall be interested to follow the discussions and maybe chat with some of you folks.
