Any news on this one?
:woohoonaner:
It will be warming up. Daytemps +4 and nighttemps +5°C. Is that good enough? :D Btw. some Scandinavian cold front is supposed to come later on, but I hope our Carpathian mountains will block that off. :ha::0517:

The last three days I had the impression, that I live somewhere far more north. The hills and mountains are covered with snow from about 300 m above sealevel. We had three nights with almost freezing (0 - 1 °C), but now it's very slowly warming up.
Normally spring should be here and the first trees started to flower, but were hit by that strong cold that affected most parts of Europe.
If you want to go skiing, Northern Greece is to be considered! :-)

Well I saw the pole you MMSed me today, looking very bad, considering that you would be hanging there in such a strong wind.
How did it go? Were there any other poles in the area that needed maintenance?

It was quite pleasant, quite warm (5°C), windless, sunny day today.

My weather sticker lies again. Add to that temperature +2°C this time. Argh. Damn meteo station.

Well normally we get the Gulf stream from the south (normally we have a mild winter (we don't build snowmen unlike this year) then it goes straight to hot), but with this El~Nino BS we actually have a spring (which is nice, hold the frost/freezes); We definately had a Winter! Now we will have a frosty weekend since the low's are now 34F. I'm glad I didn't put anything in the ground that won't recover. They say down here don't count the cold out until the pecans bud out.. Then we're safe (that hasn't happened yet)... What goes up (thermostat), must come down (once in a while) :^)

Weather here has been really good! Temps has been around 85F to 90F thats about 29C-30C (very rough estimate). The humidity has been very high, around the 60% to 80% range and its just very muggy. It really poured this morning and was 70F and muggy. Now the humidity has gone down a little bit thanks to another afternoon rainstorm, but it will be in the 80Fs again tommorrow and the next day with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
Very summer like here and the plants are loving it!!!

We have forecasts of 34 for tonight and tomorrow night. I keep telling my dad to not worry about the cold with our tomatoes... if they live through the wind we have had this week, they will live through anything.. We have had almost non stop wind all week. (some calming a couple nights.) with gusts almost daily to the 50s.

Forecast is for this wind to continue until this evening.. Our question is: after this evening will the winds be gone or worse?

Yeah, here too. Not in my region, but generally on 60% of Slovakia. If you go back a few pages, you'll see I warned about this. Extra humid winter + lots of condensational cores from the vulcan in the air and voila... what could happen...
Authorities, meteorologists failed in every aspect. I know many people who even precisely predicted the amount of water that we got in May. Calculating it from the amount of volcanic ash... but who ever listens to mathematicians.
Shame on the authorities.

You know, people, I'm not sure whether to laugh or just cry. We haven't been above 25°C/77°F since April. Average temperatures are 3/4 of what I wrote earlier and we haven't seen the sun for 5 days now. It has been the wettest and most humid half year in 160 years (or maybe more, but those are the last recorded precipitation values).

In May, it literally rained all day long almost every second day, with chilling temps (temps, at which naners grow in severely reduced mode) not allowing bees to come out!
May has also brought something that, until now, only Brazilians from Amazonia knew. Freaking 59cm (24 inches). Crazy weather, crazy climate. If I don't see a proper summer here, I'm honestly moving away, after I've finished my uni.

Some highlits of what we've been seeing in the news lately:

Really, it's pis*ing me off. Half the time we have snow and snowcalypses, the other half water and floods. It's absolutely ridiculous. Stupid, stupid climate. The only real advantage is, that we don't have any poisonous animals.

Year after year these floods come and nobody does anything about the situation before it occurs. Sometimes they are worse, sometimes they are quite accaptable and expected. And sometimes they are the record breakers.

I'm so down right now.

Belgium is strange as it is about politics.
4 example we have 2 political parties.
1 Dutch goverment
1 French goverment

3 Three languages are spoken in belgium.
French
Dutch
German

In the center of Belgium You have Brussels.
The languages in Brussel is Dutch end French.

The weather in Greece is also significally cooler then last week and also cooler then normal.
Last week we had a heat wave with temps between 35 - 37 ° C during the day and lows of 25° C at night.
Friday it started to cool down with thunderstorms and rain all days untill yesterday. Now it's about 10 °C colder during the day and night compared to last week.
Normal weather should be between last weeks and this weeks temperatures.

I know even current temps may sound like paradise for you guys in Central and Northern Europe, but anyway it's too cold for this period of the year. Daily mean temps in June should be around 24 ° C, the last days were only 20 - 21 ° C. Last week we had mean temps of 29 ° C.

Today's forecast for Rome is 26° celsius max (16 celisus min at night) sunny and low humidity due to north-western moderate winds.
Hi pressure is slowly coming back to Italy from Spain and is pushing east the low pressure associated to clouds and rain....

Actually The cloud front should have passed over croatia going East....

So my friends, Dalmatiansoap should experience a change for good fo the weather but beware of a moderate to strong western wind.... Jack Daw instead should prepare to bear the brunt of the bad weather front going straight toward central europe....

I see also another front passing over Ireland and UK going east toward Scandinavia...

We have them very bad here in Florida, USA.
I use something called the "Mosquito Magnet" to eradicate them from the area around my home. It really helps to reduce getting as many bites.
It traps them in a container where they dry out and die. I check how many mosquitoes that I caught with it several times per day.

I call it blessings of the continental climates. We had some tourists from UK in the Tatra mountains the other day. Day temps rose to 28°C, so they were packed lightly, and when the night came and it started almost freezing, they had to be carried down the hill in a helicopter. A very expensive trip indeed. ;)

Thanks, I'm more for bio-countermeasures, such as bats. Bats can eat thousands of insects/night (but in the summer mainly mosquitos). If it weren't for the humans and their fobias, there would still be any in my surroundings. I actively work to change it and establish a new colony in the riparian forests just 2 clicks north of me. That way, both the habitat and they, will be protected and can't be removed.

Lucky you. I see workers spraying that *** all over the place, but without any effect. If it reduces a colony of 100,000 to a colony of 10,000, that's not much of a help. That's pretty much what's happening here, because they simply can't cover the entire riparian forest area (hundreds of km2).

Lows don't fall below 24. We are truly enjoying a Croatian summer these days. ;)
Ay, Soapy?

All temps in Celsius degrees, 30°C ~ 86°F. Humidity around 45-75%.

And lol, yes, if we wanna see some colder weather these days, we should visit the Mediterranean. If only our winters were warmer than yours.

Cool! Might get a few drops of rain down here as well! Which we could need and my in-ground Rajapuri would also love.

But I talked with my mother in Munich, Germany and she said, that'll be bad today and I hope you all will stay safe.
There were heavy thunder storms last night in southern Germany with hail up to tennis ball size "ice bullets"...

Take care!

Here in Rome, we got a drop of temperatures from 38, to 28 degrees celsius and a lot less hydration , from 88 to 40, 50% .
We had a moderate to strong NW wind that dried the air letting us stop sweating 24/7.
I didn't see a single drop of rai or a cloud in the sky in the last 40-50 days.

It seems like we got the best part of the cold air stream crossing Europe avoiding the worst effects....

two weeks of 28-30° with normal hidration and low winds... almost perfect....

But back to reality. Yes, I too watch northern Italy on daily basis (mainly the region Genoa-Torino-Milan, it's a point of interest to me ;) ) and I was surprised not to see the daily temps go above 23°C in quite a while. I think he get's more rain up in Croatia, but according to the USDA Zone Maps for Europe he should be zone 9? (Correct me, Ante, if I'm wrong). He's only less than 400 miles (600 km) North East of Thessaloniki.
More up north and inland towards Central Europe it can go down that fast.
I was living in Munich, Germany before and I remember sharp temperature drops at the end of August and summer was gone in just half an hour with the first serious cold front coming down from the North...
I think Jack, your climate should be very similar to Munich, excecpt with less (annual) rain, because it's a more continental climate, which also can have some heat waves in summer...

But some years you can be lucky untill start of September with nice and pleasent temps in Central Europe.
But also in Greece, it can be strange: Last year the first two weeks of September were unusually cold and wet. We had friends here for holidays... Well, they were disappointed! This year it's the opposite. Temps now up to 85F/30C in the day and no significant rain in sight if you can believe the long range forecast for the next two weeks.

It's difficult to apply the climate like this. Ante is a USDA zone 9b/10a with hot summers and rainy, wet winters (Koppen climate Csa).
Typical weather data for Split (north of Ante) are here... recorded over a long period of time. Add 1/2C to get Ante's temps... LINK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split_%28city%29#Climate)

That's however not my parf of the Europe. Germany is influenced by the sea and partly by scandinavian cold air. We, on the other hand, are influenced by Russian cold front from the Sibir and southern winds from the Balkans. Typical summer end here mid-September and the transition, although fast, may not be permanent and certainly not this rapid. :(

Well, that's true for most of Germany, but the south east is more continental than you might think!

Still, it is influenced by the sea. ;) You can see that not in the summer, but in the winter. Whatever happens in northern France, UK or BENELUX, happens in vast majority of Germany as well. If it weren't for Germany's high latitude, it might even have oceanic climate. But with temps falling so much below zero they had to be classified as partly strong continental climate. Also, there are mountanious ranges dividing the Czech republic and Germany, south of the Germany... and that's the reason for cold air accumulation, not necessarily the true Central European and Balkan continental cold factor - Russian plains.

Yes, it is unusual cold spell here for this time of the year and I hope everything is going to be back to usual pretty soon. Normal temp. now will be about 25-27C for the first weeks in September and 20C in October.
Here is a link to good weather statistic for Split
Weatherbase: Historical Weather for Split, Croatia (http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/weather.php3?s=33331&refer=&units=us)
Jack is right about my weather sticker, its for Split, region capital, 60 km NW from me and its allways a bit colder. Even now we have windy weather with 25C and Split is 22C.
Anyway, I have to start with Winter shaltering program preparations:ha:

Since last Friday the weather has bokendawn, 30 C (86F) turned into 11C, (42F). It is rainy, cold and windy like in November, brrrrrrr :coldbanana: but from the other side situation like this is typical for the end of August recently.

/Sorry, stupid jock./

I wanted to say that weather like this is nothing unusual in August, but it should finish soon and 'Golden Polish Autumn' will come (I hope)
Even yesterday was couple nice moments which I used for small walk around the neighbourhood.

also starting to blow down here in Northern Greece.

We had a little rain (!) this evening and then it started to blow. Gusts up to 37 km/h (or 5 Beaufort). May be more in open places...
And it cooled down to just 22°C now at 10:30 p.m (which is cold for this time of day)

26-28° here with low hydration .... moderate winds from NW but no cloud or rain, so for the moment I can't complain.... the low temperatures are 15-16°.

Snowing in the mountains above 1500m. Jingle bells, jingle bells... :ha:
We're experiencing what I could only describe as typical late London autumn. Jihaaa.

Same here in Greece, but wind's quite strong. This morning, the newest leaf of my AeAe looked good, but by noon it turned awful. But I think it'll be okay.
The other naners are okay. The big Rajapuri's leaves looks like christmas decoration with all the cut leaves, but it's fine with no other damage.

The wind should be gone by tonight...

I had a dream last night that I was watching the weather forecast and they said it was going to get down to -6.5C tonight. It was a nightmare!! I was like how, since yesterday was 37.5C. Glad I woke up and it is nice and warm!

Anyway, wishing a warm Autumn in Europe! :)

Tomorrow, hopefully the nightmare will take a break!

I literally hate it here right now climate-wise... but there was a Croatian festival here today and will be another feast (hody) tomorrow. So at least some fun is present in the cold air. I'm having a running nose though... still. :0517:

Btw, Soapy, all these ads on the site tell me to go to Croatia for exlusive prices, offer me flying tickets to Croatia, Split and Zagreb and claim that they know the best place to work in Croatia. Also, some seed and plant supplier from Croatia and Croatian citrus seller. Interesting. As if there was nothing else on this planet, but Croatia. :)
Oh, and a diving school, how could I have forgotten.

Stabile here too, well, for now it is and according to forecast will stay so for two more weeks. I dont mind if it even cool down a bit more just if it doesnt blowes. Ice cream is unrolling biggest, HUUUUGE leaf ever, and if it just menage to harden a bit before the winds.
BTW I started to build a kind of shalter for few plants that will stay inground.

Yesterday's countryside photo. :)

No, it's a fictional character created by Coca Cola as a marketed brand being used by older generation and superbig companies to dumb the younger generation by telling them, that some fatso with flying deers and carriage or whatever it is actually bothers reading billions of letters each year in order to set up the factory plan for his elves or whatever magical beings he employs without any form of employee protection, money or employee benefits, just for joy of working and who can't even realize that most of the warmest gifts are actually not matter based, but are emotions, wishes, hopes, love and compassion.

And he's only as old, as the Coca Cola company itself, company reknown for inventing their magical drink as a water soluable toilet cleaning liquid with actual coca additives, banned by the US government decades ago.

Maybe we could go as long as explaining, why the Christmas is actually being celebrated instead of Pagan festivals celebrated by cultures that actually didn't know snow, raindeers and based the date 25.12 as a date of solar transition from one period of year to another and beginning of colder time, when care for growing evergreenes outside was necessary...

Don't want me to go to origins of that.

It's a very real image, wouldn't you say? :ha:

Take this post as a joke. :ha::ha::ha:

Yeah, Milk originate from cows, not from supermarket :ha::ha::ha:
If you call that matter you can find in supermarkets "milk". ;)
I'd lean towards the fact that it's more of a lactose based chemical ingredient whose sole purpose is to gain more money even if the price is the health of the population. Unfortuantelly. Approved by EU quality and taste standards of course.

Hi from sunny (and hot) Red Sea. From what I see on rome's forecast, tomorrow is expected heavy rain with ice balls (I don't rememeber the correct word for it) and 25Knt of wind...: ARGH!!! And I'm far away from my little 'nanas unable to protect them against the storm.....
Murphy's rules strikes again.... the only day of bad weather from the last 4 month will come the only week I've left for vacation.

OK I'm going to get some nitrogen intoxication so I'll not think about it.... see you later.
