Windstorm passed through Bakersfield yesterday. Is this hopeless, or is it salvageable? Thanks,

Cut it at the bend and it should be fine.

100%
Cut just below the bend...
And maybe move the plant in case another wind storm rolls through

Try a splint first. I have received plants bent like that staked them and they did fine.

Cut it off below the fold.

I would try a splint as well. I had some Orinoco's that I put in the ground that had similar damage and I used bamboo on either side to hold it up and new leaves grew and after a few new leaves it was standing up much better. I had one I cut as well and it started growing new leaves after a while as well. You would be fine going either way. If the splint works on your plant it may recover faster. I planted 8 Orinoco's and another one that was bent over just grew through the middle but split stem and grew a little to the side...
So ya definitely salvageable....

Want them all... and everyone else ... don't bash me for the following...I'm sure you're using some products that have been tested on animals at some point...I just did a test on a family member...1 of my trees...Now I share the results with you. Hope this reassures you to be patient with your pictured loss:
I always wondered and I needed the space..

Check the date-stamp. Also notice the pup next to 'Mom' stump

They're Mother stump and Pup are both 4 feet tall now.
Will the plant fruit at a lower level? All of my Tall Brazs are 22-25' tall. I'm expecting fruit, but a smaller yield. 16' to 1' and the tree continues to amaze me...
Good Luck Want! :woohoonaner: Nana trees will survive :woohoonaner:

Thanks for the amputation photo. I cut it down already, also built a lattice fence to block the wind.
