Default Re: Carolina King banana

I'm kind of thinking that I would rather stick to some of the other plants on the cold-hardy list, at least for a while. So I'm thinking of Thousand Fingers, which is clearly a real variety, and I already have Dwarf Orinoco and California Gold, which are supposed to be pretty cold resistant. Someone near me has also fruited Goldfinger, so I will probably try that one, too. I'm in San Jose, CA, and so here the question isn't so much whether it will live or survive--I think a lot of them will hang on here--but whether they will produce fruit. I've asked fellow Silicon Valley CRFG members, and so far, DO, CG, Goldfinger and Dwarf Cavendish (in pots, with winter protection) have fruited for people here, and not much else. So I think I'll stick with a short list of extra hardy ones for now, though I will experiment with Thousand Fingers, Kandarian, and when Veinte Cohol, when it's my turn on the waiting list.
