In some quarters in Puerto Rico, they call a red banana, Guineo Montecristi, but the red banana is called "Morado" internationally, including South America. However, Monte Cristo (internationally) is a variety that has green fruits even when ripe. While a few local communities may refer to Lacatan as Monte Cristo, that is not what it's called internationally. I have even read it somewhere that the Monte Cristo is called the "false" Lacatan. Maybe that's where you got that impression.
