I will help you in your investigation!

The critters are probably spider-mites. You can get rid of them by using old fashioned green-soap, and mixing this about 1/10 with water and then misting this on the plants. But the soap needs to be the old-fashioned, oily kind. Actually, my grandma had to show me this, and after I tried this method I have never had spider-mite problems again.

Come to think of it, they may not have this soap in the US, but here in Norway old ladies have used it to clean their house since the early 19ths century. I'd be happy to send you a bottle if you can pay for shipping.

BTW, the plants in your photo, they look more like a seed-grown species and certainly not like an Apple cultivar. Where did you get them?
