You can toss the whole standard soap in 2 to 3 litres of water, you want use less.
But be careful, this water MUSTN'T GET TO THE ROOTS. If it does, the plant will then produce several deformed leaves.
I also sometimes use the saponate you use to wash up your dishes after the meal. It also effective and it also can't reach roots.
Usually, when you stir the mixture and it makes bubbles, it's good.
I don't know about that leaf cutting. If I were you, I would cut the leaves on the first group and leave the leaves on the second group of plants and you will see.
