Welcome swatikrish, I wouldn't worry about the temperatures hurting your basjoo till fall when it starts getting cold. I would be careful not to over water until it warms up a bit though so the roots don't get waterlogged and rot.
My guess is that you should shoot for about 4' the first year since your plant is small. If you can protect the corm after that ( I had trouble last winter), the sky's the limit.
