Had the same problem with my G Nain first time planting last year. By the fall the main Pstem stopped growing and shot up pups right away. Had to cut it down to grow the pups. This year they are growing so slowly I had to go back to Mackenzie to get an answer. John said probably corm borers.

This is the first naner type that ever had a bug problem for me. I use copious amounts of manure to top dress to keep the nematodes down, but the corm borer is new to me. He further said to dig up the mat and dissect the corm - look for borers. Will happen soon as I'm in the middle of replacing 5 other types - all the reds must go. Got a Nain replacement but will check out insecticides before planting. So -- dig one of yours up and do a forensic exam. Let me know what you find.

BTW folks - have a few pups each of Red Iholene and Red Kru that can be shipped, and one big, and getting bigger, Pitogo that has to be picked up. Also a couple of large Saba corms for pick up.
