Interestingly Kew now have it as Musa formosana, but it is not an accepted name by Kew. They think it should be named Musa basjoo var. formosana (Warb.) S.S.Ying, Mem. Coll. Agric. Natl. Taiwan Univ. 25: 100 (1985).
