Good to see another Canadian on the site!
I now live in California for work which also enables me to support my banana hobby with relative ease compared to your climate.
I take it you are in zone 5?
Have you attempted to plant any nanners outside yet for the summer?
You must have a few months of 16 hour sunlight (when the sun breaks through the clouds) that should give your plants a quick growth spurt.
You would likely have some success in large pots with smaller species too.
Overwintering tips abound on this website and I'm sure some of the senior members have some good tips for dealing with your winter season.....Good Luck!
