I have skunks that come every night and dig in my yard. I don't know how many times they have uprooted my blueberries , and dug so deep around my banana plants . They are after grubs. If they really are after grubs in your lawn you can treat with an number of insecticides that will take out the grubs. There are a few good granular products that you can spread on your lawn. If you'd rather take a more natural approach, do a search for something called Milky Spore. It is a biological that attacks and kills the grubs (similar to BT for caterpillars). I can't remember what name it is marketed under.
