Default Re: what are the brown spots?

thanks guys, after looking at it again it seems to be the salts. i scraped some of it off with a razor blade and it wasn't fluffy any more. i guess it looked fuzzy because it was just building up a lot on the inner rim of the pot.
i just switched it into a plastic pot and re used some of the soil. i did put some more peat moss in the mix tho because i didn't have anything but organic earthworm casting potting soil and sand before.
however, while i was doing this a tragedy happened... the light i had clamped to my window sill had fallen on the plant and broke off the new leaf (the one that didnt have the bad spots on it, only a little on the edges). there is now only one leaf on the plant and it has the two big spots you see in my other post. do you think this plant will still be able to sprout more leaves? and will it bounce back from this quickly?

again thanks so much for the help!
