Yeah, I know. Some heirloom varieties do come true from seed though. There is one here called Wassenberger that does, and it is one my list to acquire. It is a local variety, so it can handle our climate well.
But the Wassenberger isn't a donut peach and I have yet to find a heirloom donut peach that comes true from seed. Still, there is a good chance one is out there, since donut peaches are older than the round ones we have today. That's why sites like the
California Rare Fruit Growers are so exciting. Somebody out there must have this info!
