Judging by the hanging leaves it may be too hot for your banana. I know that we are having a hot spell here in CA and it is a little too much for one of my plants. If it was not getting enough water I would think that the new leaves would be fine and the older leaves would be drying out and turning yellow. My guess is that the heat and sun are a little too much for your young plant.
