Hi Gabe,
Of corse you are right, i dont think il get a possitive ID, so i will just be happy with trying to narrow it down as to what it could be, i think Mark is on the right tracks, it does look to be an edible banana, but i dont think it is Chinni champa though, it isnt glaucus on the under side of the leaf, i dont know about orinoco though, i have never had that,

Nat, there is red in the pseudostem particularly on the pups and the base of the main stem.
