The sides of a pot can get really hot and cook the near roots. For pots that are in direct sunlight we use fabric skirts made from landscaping cloth to block the sunlight.

So my plan is to put everything this year in pots in the ground and maybe dig them up and pot in the greenhouse or garage or take a pup for winter. One for example is Musa Blue Burmese. Kinda think it’s the corm though. Had it for years and all of them haven’t done great in pots, large one was up and down with growth in the yard. My buddy has them at his business that’s where I got mine and he is zone 7b colder than me. But had had them since the 80’s.
