Never added man-made potassium supplements to the fields and highly doubt that we're producing Potassium-Lite banana fruit.

your familia with the jacksonville area i believe, anyways i am sitting on 15ft. of the nice yellow sand that the state of florida makes everybody use for their septic pads because it is so well draining. doesn't hold compost or granulated fertilizers either.
i was not explicit with this thread, but i was attempting to see if anybody posting was doing what i have been doing. i have burning wood and such in the hole and not sprinkling ash on top. i inadvertently came across this path 4 years ago. ash holds moisture up if done properly, i have been creating an ash bowl. and am having very good results with 15 mats so far. it takes me 2 weeks to prepare a hole.
i will start a more explicit thread next spring.
