I am a fan of trying things out, as long as you have backups. I've heard of people getting DO to survive winter outdoors in cooler climates with adequate protection, but I haven't been able to.

I am a little Northwest of you, slightly cooler, roughly Zone 6B, and depending on where in Washington you are, probably just as wet.

I had mine covered with a large pile of wood mulch under a tarp, and it didn't come back. To be fair, with that structure, I created a nice place for rodents to hang out and I do think some of the plant was eaten....so that may have contributed to my lack of success.

Anyway, because every situation is a little different, even within the same general area, I'd say give it a shot IF you are prepared to lose the plant.....and who knows, it just may work out for you.
