I have thrown leftover night crawlers into the garden after a day of fishing on several occasions but I can't say I noticed any difference, good or bad. Although there are already so many worms I can't really imagine it would do much.

I can't say I have seen any of them after the introductions either.

And just the process of turning poor soil into good will usually attract plenty of worms in and of itself...... in my experience
