I think you're right. I just have to be patient and hope for the best. However, is that possible to cut the half of the stem and hope that that would encourage new growth? Or is this a bad idea since there's no root and the plant is still young?

nice, warm and humid. it should be fine if I'm honest. Don't cut the stem unless it looks worse than it does now is my advice. otherwise, you will put it into even more shock. you would cut it if it had root growth. no roots=no plant support.
