I live in zone 5b (north of Toronto, Canada) and we got a spectacular growing season here in 2020. I had it in a planter app. 67L / 17gal, filled with half a bag of cow manure and the rest potting mix. The amount of roots that were in it when I downsized (to place in the basement) was unbelievable. They went the entire depth of the container, about 30 inches. I had to cut quite a few so that the overwintering planter was capable of being lifted downstairs.
This was my first time growing banana plants and it was exciting. To see a new leaf every week just blew my mind. My goal is to plant it outside in actual soil next spring.
