Unhappy Trying to grow bengal tiger seeds... to no avail!

I bought a couple of bengal tiger seeds months ago off ebay. I also bought some saltpeter. I had heard from a youtube video that this stuff helps to break down the hard shell of the seed to help it to be able sprout a little faster. Supposedly that is! Anyway, I soaked the seeds in saltpeter for about 3 days. I then stuck them in potting soil and put them outside on my deck under the sun. Itís been several months since I did this and nothing has happened yet. I had heard that it could take a whole year or so to get them to grow. Is that true? How do you know if they are ever going to sprout? Are they just duds? Thank God I have since bought a bengal tiger plant thatís already pretty big! So if the seeds are not ever going to grow Iím still safe!
