Default My first garden

Okay, so some of you might find it odd that while I have been reintroducing the dawn redwood to Appalachia for the past 25 years, that I have never had a garden before. I decided over the winter to get one going, long before the damnpanic ever hit.

I decided to go vertical on my tomatoes and cucumbers, and this was the result; a nice tidy garden with peppers and potatoes growing in the adjacent spaces. Results weren't bad, but I did not have enough sun. Next year, I'll be using raised beds in the front yard for the spuds and maters, with this trellis for the cukes only. Peppers will get moved into the tomato bed as well.

This year was an experiment, but I sure learned a lot. Now, I'm busy making compost to fill the beds with over the winter.
