Here's an interesting comparison to show the power of the corm.
The first photo is from March when both pups had recently emerged. Notice how there is not that much difference in height. At this point I separated the left pup from the main corm. Only the slightly larger pup on the right is now attached to the parent corm which died over the previous winter.
The second photo shows the two pups in late August. The difference in height and size is tremendous.
The difference in the growth of the two pups is due to the right pup utilizing the full benefit of the corm "super charger" which was not available to the pup on the right after separation.
