Hello I'm a new member in Palm Beach County Florida. I have been lurking on the message board and have found a lot of helpful information here thanks to all of you. I love learning about plants and especially bananas.

I have been growing a variety from Walmart since 2017 in containers. The current main pseudostems in both containers are the second generation. I cut down the previous main pseudostems about a year ago before they fruited when they weren't growing well. I think they just needed fertilizer because after adding fertilizer the second generation pseudostems grew very quickly and now the tips of the leaves are maybe 7 feet tall or more.

I think these might be the cavendish kind. I ordered some "ice cream" banana plants online which are shipping in the mail so they may arrive in the next few days but have also read that you never can be too sure what type you will get when ordering from a nursery website. I might give one to my neighbor to grow in her yard since to have a better chance of fruiting. Also, I ordered ensete maurelli because I love the look of the maroon color but I don't think it will ship to me for a few months.

I am hoping I will get some fruit on both trees this summer because I love using bananas when I blend fruit smoothies but even if I don't I love the huge leaves on them to provide shade on my porch.
